Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Why are the prices of your coffee beans different?

Our coffee beans come from different parts of the world and vary in price per kilogram of green bean (pre-roasted). Our prices reflect these costs with some beans being slightly more expensive than others (i.e. Organic Mexican/Decaf).

How long does shipping take?

Depending on where you live and order quantity (net weight) order delivery times vary. To learn more about our shipping/fulfilment click here.

How fresh are your beans?

As of mid 2025, we have been roasting fortnightly and sometimes even weekly depending on current demand. Every bag of coffee is labelled with a Roast Date (DoR) or Packaged (PKG) stamp. We use these labels interchangeably as our coffee is packaged the same day it is roasted.

Why is the packaging date over a week old?

When coffee is roasted and packaged it is actually very unwise to use it straight away. We package our coffee directly after roasting to monitor the ageing (degassing) process. For Light Roast coffee, it is best to allow the coffee to age 7-14 days before brewing. For Dark Roast coffee, it is best to let it rest for at least 7 days before brewing. If you would like more information on post-roast check our blog post here.

Why does my bag look as though it has been opened?

All of our coffee is packed as Whole Bean, for our customers who require ground coffee, the bags are opened, ground and sent to you! We do this to ensure peak freshness, as pre-grinding coffee can cut freshness of your beans in almost half! In some cases, we are able to re-pack these into new bags and re-seal them but this is not always possible.

We also use ~50kg of coffee/weekly in our café and due to a shortage of bags, we sometimes recycle the 1kg bags. This is experienced mostly by our in-store customers but our online customer's may receive these bags (which are sealed with a thank you sticker) occasionally. When 1kg bags are completely out of stock you may receive 2 x 500g or 4 x 250g bags.
